Knee Pain Treatment

Causes of Knee Pain

Knee pain can be caused by accidents, injuries, traumas, repetitive stress, over-use or degeneration. Surprisingly, knee pain has become much more prevalent, with over 25% of adults in the US experiencing some sort of pain in their knees.

Pain can result from that damage and is often accompanied by swelling and discomfort.

To treat this, we have a series of diagnostic technology and rehabilitative methodologies. To start, we have to develop a comprehensive history of your case.

Diagnosing the exact cause of the damage to your knee is done with the use of imaging – including x-rays, MRIs, and CT scans. Using these methods, we can see any possible damage to the meniscus, ligament(s), cartilage, and bone.

Using the data collected, we create a treatment plan designed to heal the area naturally and restore strength in the surrounding areas.

Avoiding Surgery and Restoring Stability

To avoid knee surgery following an injury, it’s important to first have the injury properly diagnosed. Surgery is usually a corrective measure, and may not always be necessary to restore the knee to health.

If you choose to seek means to avoid surgical procedures, there are options, and many treatments available – provided a proper diagnosis and treatment plan are prescribed.

Early recognition and diagnosis can lead to a preservation of as much cartilage as possible, while also allowing the use of preventative measures to help support the knee and prevent further damage.

Degeneration of the knee joint(s), such as that caused over time or as a result of abuse or excessive use, can also be treated, often times leading to recovery of tissue and muscle.

It’s important to know that strength and dexterity of the knees is very important. Healthy knees are supported by muscles, and are flexible and strong. So diagnosis and treatment are very important – especially if you suspect you may already have an injury.

Essential in the preservation and recovery process is restoring movement, stability and strength to the joint. This is made possible through Peak Medical Centers use of non-surgical, regenerative, medical techniques which can bring about a partial or full restoration of knee function and overall health.
